The "Snorkel and Centipede Wetland Filter", fills the niche for large water feature filtration systems.

For water features that require 20,000 to 3,000,000 gallons of water, this system has proven highly successful at producing amazing water clarity and at the same time, reducing Algae growth as well. The Snorkel and Centipede products are the result of years of constant modification, based on a working prototype-design proven to function well and easily serviceable.

Made of heavy-duty polyethylene and available in six-foot sections, this filter can be snapped together as needed!

The concept for the design is based on our highly successful Biofalls® Waterfall Filter system. An angled and extendable slotted tube, called the Centipede, disperses water throughout an excavated bog area filled with stone and gravel. Water flows evenly through the gravel and aquatic plant roots returning to the main body of water filtered and clean. A great advantage in the design comes from the fact that, based on the size of the project, multiple centipedes can be added to create an even larger filtration bed. The breakthrough, however, comes from how the solids, instead of being released into the gravel filter bed, are pushed to a central snorkel pipe which extends up from the bottom of the bog. All that's needed to remove these solids is the simple opening of a cover cap and the insertion of a submersible pump.

This single innovation of a systemized way to remove solids prevents the continued and gradual build up of solids in the gravel bed and discharge slots, which over time, decreases a bog's filtering ability. The Aquascape Designs, Snorkel and Centipede Wetland Filtration System, is the first of its kind and should prove to fill the small lake filtration niche currently unfulfilled on the market.

This is, by far, the most effective way to filter large water features.

Use the handy Chart below, for all of your product requirements.

Example:
- 15,000 sq. ft. Pond
- 1 Snorkel Vault (Filter)
- 6 Centipede Modules
- a 15' x 55' liner
- flow rate of 14,500 GPH
- Grande Skimmer

* Liner sizes are assuming the filter is situated on the pond's edge with no stream. Increase liner size accordingly for stream additions.

TIP: If you put a Snorkel Vault between every fourth Centipede Module, you can have up to 16 Centipede Modules and get a flow rate of 40,000 GPH. This huge constructed wetland would require a 60' x 60' excavated area, and it would take 380 tons of gravel. This monster will filter a 2.5 million gallon pond with capacity to spare.
